playing catch up


I feel the need to play catch up just a bit with this blog. Last Fall our story began and on Saturday May 5, 2012 our lives were joined as one before our family and friends and most importantly before God. That day was beautiful, hot, but beautiful and so unbelievably joyful. So many people we love joined us that day and we are extremely grateful for the support and love we felt from all in attendance. There were those we love who were unable to be there and we are equally grateful for their presence in our lives and their support of our marriage.

Marriage has been a joy. On November 5 it will be 6 months since we became husband and wife. I know for myself and for Matt from talking with him it has been a daily learning experience. Studying my husband and being studied by him. Using what we've learned in the time (no matter how short) we've been together to put the other's needs above our own. It is a lovely process and I'm grateful that it is one of the ways God chooses to sanctify me to look more like His Son, Jesus.

 Our honeymoon was incredible. Alaska is one of the most beautiful places I've ever laid eyes on. I was convinced that at some point during our trip Matt was going to turn to me and say "Lindsey, we're not going home" and am still somewhat surprise that he didn't. It is truly a breath-taking place and a place to awe at God's creation.

My prayer for us (and anyone reading) is that we learn to live out what God's Word says. I pray we love God and love people with a die-to-self kind of love. I pray this starts in our home and spills over into every relationship in our lives.

Oh, housekeeping Why can't I be like the girls who have this innate love for keeping a home tidy? Why can't I be one of those women who just naturally love doing dishes and laundry and dusting and ...? Why can't I enjoy being organized and neat? I can only find one word to answer those questions. the early days

What a whirlwind week. Oliver arrived 10 days early and the last 4 days have been the beginning of a lifelong journey that Matt and I have been looking forward to for the last 9 months. Parenting our sweet boy. It has been incredible. I just nursed him and he is sleeping soundly and as I watch him I am in awe. In awe that God formed him, knows him, is pursuing him even now, and finally entrusted him to us. Just...wow.  [pause. the sweet one I was just talking about has just filled his diaper and this mama has a job to do...5 minutes and one dirty diaper later, we're back.] Let the sap continue...... He's perfect! Trust me, I know he's not really  perfect, but I understand that love a parent has for a child now and for just a little while I want to revel in the illusion that he's perfect. psalm 46:10

Just a short post about how God showed up today. This morning I was packing Matt's lunch and was quickly (because I'm always running late) writing the index card that goes in his lunch. Each card contains a verse from somewhere in the Bible and a note from me for the day. This morning, as well as many other mornings, I use the verse of the day from my iPod YouVersion app. The verse for today was Psalm 46:10... Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted on the earth I wrote it down, stuck in his lunch box, and didn't think another thing about it. Until... I was reading some information about PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).
